Ventrelles

Ventrelles is a Manchester-based quartet led by singer-songwriter Phil Knox Jr., who initiated the project during his time in Chicago before bringing it to Manchester in 2014. The band’s lineup includes Connor Long on lead guitar, Paul “Winny” Mawhinney on bass, and Gaykord Knott on drums and percussion.

Their music blends the styles of 1980s guitar groups such as Pale Fountains and Echo and the Bunnymen, with influences from The Chameleons and The Jesus and Mary Chain. This fusion results in a distinctive sound characterized by sun-soaked guitars, energetic rhythms, soulful bass lines, and life-affirming vocals.

Since their formation, Ventrelles have released several singles, including “County Lines” and “Acid Flower,” showcasing their signature “Fleece Pop” style—a term they coined to describe their unique musical approach. They have performed alongside acts like Cabbage and received radio support from XS Manchester.

As of December 2024, Ventrelles are preparing to release their debut album, anticipated in the summer of 2024,
