Indigo Dream – A Bittersweet Goodbye Single Review

Hailing from Helsinki, Indigo Dream have followed their self-titled debut EP with new
single A Bittersweet Goodbye, and going on the strength of this latest release have
just elevated themselves as an act destined for great things.

Boasting a truly international lineup, it comes as no surprise that the 2 Finnish, 1
English and 1 Hong Kongese members approached the band from varying individual
influences. As Teemu himself says:

“We all appreciate many different styles of music. Basically the starting point was just
to do something which sounds ‘dreamy’ but there was never anything specific we
wanted to do.”

Well, dreamy has certainly been achieved, and to that you can add shoe gaze with a
healthy dose of anthemic gloss. Indigo Dream don’t just make music – they make
music in widescreen.

Starting as a slow-burning rocker in the Teenage Fanclub mould, A Bittersweet
Goodbye then draws the listener in as it meanders its way to the middle eight, where
it suddenly lets loose, soaring and swirling before descending to a sweet close,
leaving you with an instant ear worm and the desire for more.

Give yourself a treat and listen to the aforementioned EP, where the jaw-dropping
Prometheus confirms their status as contenders. Described by Teemu as a track
which “started with a simple guitar loop (which) suddenly turned into quite an epic
song out of nowhere,” I can’t wait to discover what’s coming next.

The ‘Indigo Dream’ EP and single ‘A Bittersweet Goodbye’ are available now on
